What is XPde?

It's a complete desktop environment for Linux on x86. It tries to make easier for Windows XP users to use a Linux box. Nothing more, no clipboard compatibility between Gtk and Qt applications, no emulation of Windows applications, no unification on the widgets of X applications, just a desktop environment.

XPde 0.5.1 released!!

On August 21st 2004, the XPde Team released XPde 0.5.1, the release that includes a Start Menu and completes the desktop paradigm. Go to the downloads section to get binaries and sources.

Windows/Linux lookalikes

On October 17th 2003, the XPde team released a legal document intended to be useful to developers of free software that may include the ability to emulate aspects of the graphical environment familiar to users of the Microsoft Windows operating system. It is not a substitute for legal advice from an attorney licensed in your jurisdiction and no attorney/client relationship is formed by your reading it.

You can download it in two formats (PDF or StarOffice)
